Seriously, don't read too much into these stores' product statuses. There was a similar "scare" a few months back when no one could find Superia 800. B&H listed it as "discontinued" of all things. Some time passed and it was available again everywhere. Probably related to production runs or distribution or some such...

The intervening distributors have purchasing schedules.
Individual retailers have purchasing schedules.
Everyone (manufacturers, distributors and retailers) is constantly trying to keep unsold inventories to an absolute minimum, because that is how the Walmarts of the world have educated us.
All it takes is one popular blog post on using Tri-X in your Holga, and everyone should expect retail shortages.
