Is this the effect of shooting 3 negs through three coloured filters to produce eventually a coloured print? Mark Antony an APUGer has a site called Photo Utopia. On the home page he has an article on what he calls Trichrome from RGB but I don't think he mentions using a non computer based system i.e. the old fashioned way. It involves "channels".

Hybrid has a number of threads on the subject. The way it is done there is to produce 3 digital negs (CMY) and to use a traditional form of pin registered gum over printing.

Ah yes, three strip Technicolor. It's difficult to make one photo that way. Imagine how it was done for the movies!
