Transporting film overseas

I'm not sure what to do. I have about 50 rolls of 35mm / 120 film (B&W / Color / Positive) that I am trying to move with me overseas back to the US from Germany, but I am not sure how to do it. They mostly still boxed and the airports here are a bit iffy on hand checking film (they insist that their CT scanners won't damage film). So I thought maybe using the postal system and mailing it to myself? Any thoughts?

AFAIK, everything sent by post goes through high level CT.

You could probably ship by courier (such as DHL) as X-RAY sensitive goods, but it would be expensive.

In the past few years airports have been doing a better job of hand checking film. I. had no problem in either Munich or Frankfurt. In your situation i'd be inclined to get rid the boxes and put the film in plastic bags. There are good studies on CT effects on film ( see Lina Bessanova).....& airport staff currently do not insist that CT scanners are film safe.
