I posted a query a couple of days ago and recieved several immediate responses. Greatly appreciated but here is chapter two.
The Toyo that I have adopted (?) seems to have a non-standard mono-rail. Based on features the camera appears to be a model G but the rail is only 30mm in diameter rather than the usual 39mm.
Does anyone know what I have and does anyone have a tripod block for it. Or has anyone had good luck making a shim or shims to adapt the 30mm rail to a 39mm tripod block.
Actually if you look on ebay, quite often you will see the tripod blocks and the rails up for sale, I know I had to purchase both for a camera I got a couple of years ago, seems to me I paid less than $50 bucks for both pieces.
As far as shims, I think it may be difficult to shim with anything that would hold sturdy enough, I am sure a machinist could make some, but would probably be pretty expensive.
a bushing with a 39mm od and a smaller id of aluminum, with a small piece of square stock attached to the outside, slit to compress is what I had in mind.
The camera is gray (grey for all of you in the UK) I think it's a G. It has gear driven rise and fall, revolving back, gear driven shift (cross...if Roger H. is listening) and interchangeable bellows.
Having a shim/spacer made is a real possibility as the camera was a gift but I'd like to find the original piece if possible.
I've also emailed Toyo but have gotten no response as yet.
Found some comments on another old post on the old LF forum...mentions the gray toyo and difficulty in getting manual....also mentioned that the gray was not made for N American distribution (?) a bit more mystery but no help.
