Toyo/Omega 45F info?

OK, Seller has offered the following kit on a second chance offer. I am trying to find more info on the camera. Seller claims the back does not rotate but, everything I find says that the Omega 45f came with a revolving back. Can anybody tell by looking at these photos?

You can't see the release button in the picture but it looks absolutely identical to the Toyo rotating back that came standard on my 45F.
IMHO, a rotating back is a minor benefit on a view camera. Changing from horizontal to vertical is just a matter flipping a couple of clips, pulling off the back and sticking it back on the way you want. It takes about the same time and effort as rotating the back.

This camera is virtually Identical to my 45E, it is not a rotating back, but you have to slide two clips to remove and then change, it is an international back that allows the mounting of many accessories such as polaroid backs, There was a lot of confusion in the terminology of 'rotating' back, this back will let you take both horizontal and vertical shots.

Thank you both. Really, all I need / want is a back that can be easily changed from horizontal to vertical orientation. Is that what they call a 'reversible' back?

Anyway, the concensus seems to be that this one fits the bill.

My impression and experience is that the 45F came with a rotating back but the seller seems quite experienced and he should know if that particular camera has one. But whether it includes a rotating back or not, changing the orientation of the back from V to H is a snap. I would just as soon remove the back and flip it as rotate it anyway.

Indeed. Me too. My only experience with LF has been with the Crown Graphic. Everybody complains about the graphic's limited movements but, the necessity to mount the camera sideways to get a vertical is about the only short coming I can find with it.

I took the second chance offer. The 45F will soon be on its way!

I'm all geee-geee -- can't wait.

I have a 45D and three 45F that my children use, all from ebay. None of them have the origional rotating back. It is easy to change the back or rotate the camera part way. I have only partially rotated the back on my 45AII a few times for some portraits. I dont think a rotating back is a big deal. Your camera looks great. I have been very happy with toyo, parts and accessories new or used are easy to find. and your 45F with the rail removed can be backpacked like a field camera. Congrats.

Mystery solved.

Thanks everybody. My 'new' Omega View 45F kit arrived today. The back is not a revolving back but rather a simple international back which can be positioned in the rear frame in either the horizontal or vertical orientation. It all looks great! Can't wait to get out and shoot with it.

I swapped the original bail type revolving back on my D45M with a revolving international back from a 45F that I picked up off ebay for about $30.00 (that was $30.00 for the back only). A D45A I had which was missing a back became the recipient of the back from the D45M, which I sold on ebay. Ya gotta love interchangable parts...

I just ran across the box that my 45F came in (Now used to hold other junk).
One of the features mentioned on it is the rotating back. I wonder why so many of them seem to have gotten seperated from their original backs?

Anyway, have a great time with the camera. I've used all sorts of views for work and I like my 45F. It's geared in all the important places with good locks and as Bob said it is has wide interchangability.
