Not really a poll, it's a...Toy Camera Print Exchange

Toy Camera Print Exchange

Prints from any toy camera can be submitted. Deadline for signup is December 3. Just PM me your address and I will add you to the list. I will send out the contact info to all participants by the 5th. Please mail your prints on or before New Years'.

I am proposing this be a group print exchange, with groups of no more than 4-6 people. If I get a lot of requests for this to be an individual exchange, I will honor that request, and annouce the change here.

I got behind with having to do a bunch of re-prints (note to self: check the fixer before you make the prints, not after), and hope to get mine in the mail this week... how is everyone else coming along?

Slowly I'm afraid. I will try and develop the rolls from your Holga and my Diana sometime soon. I'm also trying to get caught up on the alt print exchange. Photography got put aside just lately as I tried to finish a painting commission. I got that finished so now it's back to photography

Would be interested in another round...

I would love to be part of another round if it's happening. I am too poor for new equipment, so I rely on my Holga for medium format (sad, I know). But because of this, I've grown to LOVE my Holga. I love the look of the images, and would love an exchange with other people. I have darkroom time until February, so just in case, I'll start printing!

I got no objections to gr82bart joining in...any concerns over one more?

ksiti, PM me your address and I will send it to everyone else, assuming I do not hear concerns.

No more additions after 12:00 GMT tonight- otherwise, I won't be able to get them printed before my vacation starts.

If there are no objections, Dianna ("dianna" on apug) has asked me to toss her hat into the ring. Will analog lab-produced (but RC, though) prints be suitable for the exchange as long as they're shot with a "toy" (Holga, in this case)? Our own darkroom probably won't be in service for several more months.

What are the specifics of the exchange? I'm guessing that everyone will receive a PM and/or E-Mail with the name, apug ID, E-Mail address and postal address of each participant, and that by a certain drop-dead date, each participant must send a print of an image taken with a toy camera to all the other participants. Am I close? May all the prints a given member sends be the same image, or should each of the participants she sends to get a different image?

Thanks,

-KwM-

OK, due to the 11th hour surge in interest, the deadline to get your prints out will be extended to the end of the month.

This is a group print exchange. As it is a toy camera exchange, the rules are minimal.

You can send the same print to everyone, or different ones to each. Your call.
Size, format and b/w or color are also at your discretion.
Bathroom darkroom or pro lab are both fine.

FWIW, I will be sending out different 8x8 b/w prints to each participant, but feel free to send me a color 20x24 print in exchange.

The participants are:
gr82bart; MenacingTourist; Nige; Paul Sorensen; PhotoPete; ksiti; kwmullet

I have PM'ed all of the addresses to all of the participants. Have fun!

Actually, the particpant "kwmullet" should be changed to "dianna". We've got a newborn who was buzy feeding at the moment, so I sent the PM to PhotoPete asking that she be joined, since Dianna wasn't able to log in just then and I thought we were somewhat under the gun to get our participation request in.

Regardless, the postal address is the same -- so anything that comes to me for the exchange, I'll just pass on to her.

OK, mine hit the mail today. If you want to complain about the quality of the prints I sent, I will refer you to the quality of my negs. If you want to complain about the quality of my negs, I will refer you to a plastics factory somewhere in China

Sent!

Hey everyone,

I sent mine out yesturday. Not the best image ever, but I'm having a lint problem with my Holga (didn't realize it till it was too late!). Something about the image did make me laugh a lot, though.

I received Dianna's and Pete's already, thanks!! Both are great images, and Pete's reminded me that I can and should do double images on my Holga. Looking forward to see the others!

I don't know the man...I followed him off the train, since he got off at my stop. I walked past him and set up as if I were shooting the river and let him walk into the frame. The double exposure on the bottom right is from the shutter not completely blocking the opening on its return. The man had moved on by then, so you can see the railing that had been behind him.
He is crossing the Charles River on Moody Street in Waltham, Mass.
The film was developed in Diafine, and is probably Tri-X, but may have been Neopan.
