I'm in a big hurry to put together a portfolio of 16x20 prints - I'd like to use them for showing work to commercial clients, etc... and as such - I'd like to drymount the prints to a substrate of some kind that won't get all dog-eared like matte board or foamcore will. I THINK I'd like to avoid aluminum (but I'm open to all suggestions if they make sense) - anybody have any experiences with something strong that I can drymount to ??

I would just show loose prints - but I want to be able to stand these up against a wall on a table, etc... without having to worry about them too much or have them flexing on me... (plywood would be great - except that 12 sheets of plywood would be a little formidable to carry - and wouldn't fit in a print case!

It may not help, but my experience has been that any print not in a clear acetate sleeve gets very messy very quickly (and gets creased if not supported by a piece of mount board, whether actually affixed to this or not)!

David - I expect to mount these to stiff boards that will be kept boxed with interleaving paper - I hope that will work.

I have had a few prints dry mounted on something that the shop I go to calls "gator board". It seems like a "more substantial" foam core. The proprietor of the shop always shudders when I ask him to dry mount on the stuff but, I think that has more to do with his dislike of dry mount in general. He also "works the surface" of the gator board a little before mounting. I think he simply tries to make it smoother than it is from the supplier.
