OK, after July's series of great meet-ups(edit, guess they're weren't any, right?), maybe we can try for something this month. C'mon not everybody's at the bloody cottage or in London at the Olympics!

Gary, my problem is not to attend but to find a place worth the effort. Count on me.

Thanks, Mihai. I'm sure we can come up with something interesting.

August 12th - the Seige of Fort Erie
All this takes place at Old Fort Erie ( http://goo.gl/maps/QH9VF ), 350 Lakeside Road, Fort Erie, ON

If you stay outside the fort, and just wander the camps/watch the demos, it's free! I'll be there, but shooting in a different capacity as a soldier in the Crown Forces (60th Regiment of the foot). Lots of see, and photograph, large format shooters (or even wet-plate) will probably be able to get some fantastic portraits of people in period dress.

10am - Fort and Camp open to the public
11am - Major Buck's Surrender - Stars and Strips Run Up (the 60th doesn't usually participate in this battle, but that could change this year, we usually just drill).
12 noon - Uniforms of the War of 1812 (Inside the Fort)
1pm - British Artillery demo
2pm - Battle - Tactical demonstration, using techniques from the Battle of Chippawa and Lundy's Lane
3pm - Camp Displays
4pm - US Artillery Demo
6pm - Fort and Camps closed to public
8pm - Battle - Drummond's Night Assault - this is the big one, lots of pyro and action. Mostly we'll die like dogs.
