Toning & Re-fixing

Hi

I read in Tim Rudman's Toning book that if you use sepia toner and only partially tone then you should refix. The reason given was that toning with a bleach 're-halogenises' the emulsion. Now if I tone with simple potassium ferricyanide bleach and no added potassium bromide do I still have to re-fix as I haven't used a bromide?

Cheers

Yes. Unless you tone to completion you will still have silver compounds left in the emulsion, but silver ferricyanide instead of silver bromide.
