If you say ma-mee-ya, then you should probably be saying Nee-kon, not Ni-kon too.
The "O" in Nikon is a long o. So it should be pronounced as knee-cone.

"Leica". When you see "ei" or "ie" in a German word or name, it's pronounced as the second letter. Which I had no success at all explaining to the guy using "Zees" lenses on his DSLR.
