TMX @ EI 400 in R09 suggestions?

i'm looking for suggestions on dev time for 120 tmx shot at EI 400. i usually use r09 1:100 and i like the results but my research on massive dev chart, film dev cookbook, and apug search didn't yield any good suggestions on time.

i have access to d76, but i prefer the results in r09 so i'd like to stick with that. please don't suggest another developer that i don't have access to.

Honestly, I would consider using D76 for pushing film. Generally any Rodinal developers, which includes R09 is not advised for pushing, which may be why you are not finding times for this anywhere. You could certainly test the R09 at an additional 50% and then see what you need to do from there. If you have film that you have shot at 400 already, then make sure you do testing first, especially if it is an important roll. If you have not yet shot it, I would personally suggest trying it with D76 or R09 with a 400 speed film.

My tests with TMX and Rodinal family developers give a working EI of about 64. As Paul says, Rodinal isn't generally considered a full-speed or pushing developer. That's probably the reason you're not finding suggestions for a 2.5 stop push for a slower film in Rodinal. TMX in Rodinal can be really nice, but especially in 120 I don't see the reason for not shooting TMY for EI 400. By the time you push TMX to 400 with Rodinal, you're going to have very empty shadows and/or extreme contrast build-up. If that's what you're going for, you'll likely have to test for yourself rather than expecting to find someone else who does that routinely.

If you have some fresh Xtol around, try it at 1:1 dilution for 13 minutes (14-15min if you use diffusion enlarger), agitating every two minutes.
TMX can be successfully used this way, but with an altered film curve more reminiscent of Tri-X 320.
Very beautiful and great for portraits.
If your film matters, shoot another one at 400 and test before you develop the important roll.

Did it twice.
I used Rodinal 1:100 for 150 minutes.
3 initial inversions, then one every 30 minutes.

Results were ok.

If it has to be Rodinal:

In my -admittedly vague- understanding, you might want to
1) drop the temperature to 16 or 15 degrees Celsius
+ This ameliorates grain appearance (in my use, anyway: 35mm APX100)
- Requires prolonged development (iirc 1.6x for a 4 degrees Celsius drop from 20)
2) Use 1+200 and reduced agitation or semi stand in order to try for 'compensating effect',
+ i.e. the highlights get less fresh developer and will not become too dense too quickly, contrast will be reduced.
- (Semi) stand is not very precise and will require prolonged development (again!).

Disregard, I just read the original post again:If it does not have to be Rodinal, but you don't like to mix developer from powder: buy a bottle of HC-110 and use that for pushing.
