TMAX RS vs. TMAX Film Developer

I use TMAX 100 4x5 film with TMAX RS developer in a Jobo processor.

I have wondered about trying the new Kentmere TMAX developer that is a little cheaper but they don't make the "RS" version that is recommended for rotary processing.

Does it really make any difference if I use regular TMAX or "KMAX" developer with the Jobo vs. TMAX RS developer? Thanks.

i would be careful if you process sheet film in non RS developer.
i know rs is for replenishment system, but i first shot and wrongly
processed in non rs developer (bad advice from kodak professional division)
and got dichroic fog on all my film. not good, unless you are handy with
farmers reducer, and even then the film is pretty messed up.

i would ask kentmere, it isn't worth messing up film over a few dollars.

I agree with John that trying to save a relatively small amount is probably questionable when processing film.

I can't comment on "KMAX" developer; I'd never heard of it until now. I can say, however, that regular Kodak T-Max Developer works fine for me with rotary processing of sheet film, even though a contrary warning appears on the bottle. I think we've discussed this topic previously, so a Forum search might be in order. I'd say that testing the KMAX on something non-critical would probably be worthwhile.

Ilford DD-X can be used to process sheet films as well as roll-films. It may be better to buy Ilford DD (Dip & Dunk) Developer which is the same stuff, but comes in 5 litre size containers which works out much cheaper than buying five 1 litre size containers of DD-X. This will depend on how much film processing that you do regularly.
