I'm confused on how much developer to mix with water. On the tmax bottle it says 1 part devloper with 4 parts water. I'll be using 400ml all together. I don't know how much developer to add to 4 parts water.

Hi Tim,

Its basically one fifth developer to four fifths water.

400 (total) divide 5 is 80 so that is the amount of developer with 80 x 4 (320) being water.

When the dilution says "1 part developer x parts water" to make y ml of solution, the math is:

1 part + x parts = y

so

1 part water + 4 parts water = 400 ml solution

5 parts = 400 ml

1 part = 400/5 = 80 ml

Tim,
I use T- Max RS develpoer mixed 1 to 9 (one part concentrate from bottle to nine part water)at 75* in a Jobo processor for 8 minutes. This is what I use for all of my T-max films sizes. I hope this helps.
