I'm a noob for all intents and purposes. So, naive Q?

I have two rolls of HP5 120 (from my Mamiya RZ67 and Yashica Mat 124 respectively) in their own (x2) tanks, and two rolls 35mm, one of 400 TriX one roll of HP5 in a single 500ml tank.

I have freshly mixed TMax Devel in a dark datatainer stoppered and stored (at least 5 months) in a dark cupboard. (same with Fix and Stop) All in a temp bath in my bathtub. I have a big 6 reel stainless that I'm bringing the TMax to temp in.

Can I do those three tanks on just 500ml of TMax Developer? and Fix (Ilford Rapid). Then toss it all? Thanks for your patience!

The datasheet is saying for a gallon, rolls 1-16 need no adjustment in development time. 500ml is approximately 1/8 gallon. 1/8 of 16 rolls = 2 would imply (if this phenomenon is linear) that you may want to add a minute of developing time with 500ml after the first two rolls, and 2 minutes after the first four rolls. This is going to be an approximation at best but could be used as a starting point. This is for the primary recommended time and temperature on their sheet.

I see what look like 1/2 gallon bottles. Did you mix up a half gallon or 500mL ? Those silly brown plastic bottles are not the best. Did you mix the developer, "fresh" 5 months ago?
I would inspect the fixer, smell of sulfur, particles floating etc.

Thanks, mshchem,

The fixer is clear, no precipitate. It smells like fixer, not sulfer. Yes, I mixed chemistry to fill the datatainer, fresh.

Mixed T-Max developer, unused, 2 months in partial full bottle, 6 months in full bottle. Concentrate 2 years.

Thanks. The four rolls of 120 that I developed last summer turned out well, Nice even grey's and density. I'm sure I tossed the developer.

Thanks folks

my two rolls of 35mm turned out fine. Eight (8,) minutes @ 68º Four inversions every minute. One minute in the Stop. Six minutes in the Fix. Not sure which camera it's from, but the 8min developing time worked.

I'll try my two tanks of 120 next after I wash these. I'll toss the Developer afterwards.

MERCI!

My first 120 roll of HP5 gave me quite discernible images but my second use of developer went dark.
Going to dump it.

I found some Photo Flo in that kit I was given so 2ml in 500ml.

Sounds a bit risky to me. And if by a Datatainer you mean one of those thin brown recycled polyethylene jugs, you should know those are somewhat oxygen permeable, and not ideal for storing developers. Glass bottles would be better, or even rinsed out plastic soda pop bottles.

You're quite right. I was a graphic artist and wet lab photographer in the nineties. All my chemistry was mixed bulk and stored in stainless carboys and or dark glass. Used Tech Pan and LPD4 I think it was. I'd copy/photograph my graphs on a Leica Reprovit with an M3 for my supervisors' research publications. It's been years and years.
