I've been developing TMax100 4x5 sheet film in a Jobo CPP-2 and 3006 tank and was having trouble with the Jobo gears slipping. I think I'll rest the Jobo and try tray processing, which I'm very comfortable with but haven't done in years. I must say I like the hands-on approach and the relaxing shuffling of film in the dark. I think with an 8x10 developing tray in an 11x14 water jacket tray the temperature control should be pretty good.

In the Jobo I've been using TMaxRS 1+9 at 75F and my time is 9:30 for normal development

For tray development the Kodak docs recommend a dilution of 1:4 at 75F for 5:45, with continuous agitation and 90 degree film rotation. The time seems a little short and I'm just wondering if anyone has had good even development with this time and dilution. As for agitation, I used to shuffle through the deck once every 30 seconds I believe, after one minute of continous.

Any feedback from you tray-processors welcome!

A quick look at the two Kodak pdf documents brings up a question--J86 and 4016 cover the developers and film processing, but the RS version is mixed as a working solution--the 1:4 dilution seems to be a erroneous repeat of the non-RS developer dilution, especially when directed at tube processing. I use the working strength tray processing sequence, with prewet, and get a good speed point and C.I. for TM!00/4x5 with 7 1/4 min. at 68F.
