Hey i've got tmax 100 film and im going to be using it within Ilford Hc Developer. Other than the standard time that it states on the internet to dev the film has anyone experimented with other times and if so what type of results did they get?

t-max is not a good film to push, pull, or make experiments, it is sensitive to temp and dev times, much more so that classic films like apx 100 or efke. I would suggest creative use with efke, and standard times/temps with tmax.

T-MAX films are designed to be readily pushed and pulled, they are deliberately very sensitive to changes in development time and temperature. But this also means that they are unforgiving about your processing technique, if you aren't very consistent about temperature, dilution, agitation, and stopping, you will get inadvertent pushes and pulls with every roll. They are a film that will demand you develop good processing technique.

There's a guy on photo.net called Mauro Franic who loves to show how far he can take Tmax 100 - he gets great results at EI 800, believe it or not, but he is using Xtol so YMMV.

Go to photo.net and do a search for his name and Tmax and have a look, it's quite interesting

The only problem I see about developing TMax 100 with Ilfotec HC is that, being very much like HC-110 and a very active developer, the development times can be very short and difficult to control accurately. Of course, the activity can be slowed down by using higher dilutions, but these are often not well documented so you might have to do a bit more experimentation than usual to nail down your development time.
