I have a Minolta Autocord and a Rollei Bay 1 lens hood. The lens hood uses an outer bayonet so that the inner Bay 1 filter mount is available. I would like to get a skylight or UV filter to keep on the lens for protection -- so this is my question -- If I get a Bay 1 to series 5 adapter (either a Rollei or the Tiffen 522) will it allow the lens hood to be mounted as well? Or am I limited to getting a Bay 1 skylight filter?
FWIW I have a Rollei 2.8E, which takes BayIII filters. I used to use a series VI filter holder with my Bay III lens hood. OTOH used Bay I filters aren't all that expensive.
According to this page- https://www.apotelyt.com/photo-accessory/series-filters
the Series V retaining ring has adiameter of 33.3mm. Measuring a couple of Bay I hoods i have, the inner opening is about 35.5mm. So theoretically the hood should fit fine over the Series V filter setup.
Theoretically...... I don't see any interference problems myself, but without an actual sample to try I can't say for certain. Also I do not know how consistent retaining rings were, especially from brand to brand.
I have an Autocord, a Hansa Bay1 metal hood that fits on the outer bayonet, and Series V filter retainer for another camera. The hood fits over the entire series V assembly, so I think it will probably work with a step up adaptor to series V.
