Tintype wet plate creation and development - a thread to help a wannabe noobie

Hi all

I am looking to start shooting and creating tintypes and I need some help from those in the know and with definitive experience in this area.

I have been doing a lot of research into this but the internet - though at times is our friend - is also a swirlpool of opinion and opposing information. So basically I would like to start at the beginning and go from there...

Does any one know of any step by step guides (preferably written ones as I cant make notes on a video haha), pdfs or books I can easily/cheaply get my hands on to learn the ins and outs of making and developing wet plate tintypes, pre and post shooting? And any useful beginner hints and tips from tried and tested, wise heads who know this process like the back of their hand would be very much appreciated.

Also, whilst im on the topic - when the time comes for me to get supplies, has anyone in the UK ever used any supplies from these guys: http://www.wetplatesupplies.com/
If so, is the kit any good?

is a very active wet plate users group there too.
