I thought her photos were great until she became so political. After that, the ones I’ve seen are cliches. Or maybe others copied her making hers cliches.

juan,..she didn't "become so political" she fought Nazis in Spain. Would be good if more of today's artists fought Nazis in USA.

Modotti was an artist who became increasingly political, never intending to limit herself to decorative "wall art."

I'm in love.
She is far more passionate than Weston.

I think it's difficult to evaluate levels of passion in dead artists...though comparison to Ansel establishes something along those lines. Read what Charis had to say about Weston's passion.
