Nothing like something old, something new. I bought my first M2 back in 1982 and a few years later traded it and the lens on some medium format equipment I needed. Years down the road I had an awful desire for another one and found a super nice one lately and bought a couple lens for it.

I thought it rather funny to look back when I had that first one and the one I have today. You guys in your 20's or 30's enjoy your youth. This is how you'll change in 33+ years. The Leicas look the same-the owner don't. I think I need a good CLA.

I'm afraid so, sad isn't it. Kind of hard to tell me from Tom Selleck in the first one. The photos were taken by the same door.

Hey, not bad at all, before and after. Judging by the wall features, you're still the same height and even lost a bit of weight.

But that's an M3, right? I seem to see the ring surrounding the film counter.

Sulphate-Nope, they're both M2's. I lost a bunch of weight-about 30-40 pounds and lost an inch in height.

Would you want to repeat the 30-some years? I certainly would not. So what--you're 49 now. That's not so bad.

Not on your life! Well, some parts of it would be worth repeating. Add another 20 years to that 49 and you hit the nail on the head.

Immortal travel...I like that. I've been really amazed at the accuracy of that old MR-4 meter. 99% of the time it's spot on with my F2A. Not bad for an old dude.

Why do I need a lens hood? When I shot those 24 negatives the other day it was overcast-no sun at all.

Sample? You're down stairs and go upstairs to get something. By the time you get up there you forgot what you went up the steps for. I make sure when I start developing negatives al my containers for the chemistry are properly marked. I didn't do that long ago and committed to memory knowing I placed them left to right...developer, stop, fix, hypo clearing, photoflo. One day I developed some unimportant negatives only to find when I took the reel out of the Photoflo there was nothing there but clear negatives! Guess who poured the fixer in first?

I still have that strap but the newer one is actually a Voightlander strap-works good.

I found the Planar better than the Type IV cron but not as tolerant as my other lenses in low sun days. Both with kit hoods. If you drop them a written off hood is not a problem.

The hoods for that lens(Zeiss) cost about $80...a bit high in my opinion.

You started a mite earlier than me. My first camera at about 12 years old was an Imperial followed by a Hawkeye. I still have both. 1954...I was eight years old and flying kites and playing with cap guns. Precious memories.

The hood for the Cosina Voightlander 40mm /1.4 is cheaper and identical except for the name plate.
Or a Ch screw in vented generic is pennies.

My Ch one has hit ferro concrete twice.

Check your rangefinder is ok on moon.

After a small bit of tweaking the vertical alignment I think it's going to be ok.

May I ask in the 33+ years, at what stage did you decide to add the Leicameter and why?
