hey all,
I bought this sight unseen, knowing that it was going to be a repair project.
Here's the skinny on what's needed to repair before becoming fully functional:
The leg that is parially disassembled(see pictures), , the brass insert doesn't thread tightly into the aluminum tube as it should. I believe what has happened is that over time the torquing back and forth of the ring to tighten the leg has cause the brass ring to become cross threaded, or has just worn the threads out on the aluminum tube completely. I tried using loctite-blue to lock it in, but no avail. What will probably need to be done will be to machine(or have machined) a new ring(potentially call Tiltall, or their subsidiary company) for a replacement main tube and brass ring insert.
The other two legs are 100% operational, with no problems that I've found.
I am therefore pricing, IMO, accordingly:
$65 SHIPPED in the USA
**this isn't one of the newer, chinese-made "tiltalls". Its one of the older ones, made here in the good 'ol US of A! I've owned both versions, and this one, IMO, has a more solid feel. Of course, this not including the problem stated above regarding the leg.
Paypal as a "gift", or you cover the fees. Money Orders are fine too.
Int'l shipping is fine by me, but please be aware of higher shipping costs via USPS
thanks!
