Does anyone have any experience with how the Tiffen 812 filter compares to KR 3 filters like those from B+W and Heliopan?
These appear to be similar in many ways, both with more red in them than the 81 series of warming filters, and both with a filter factor of 1.2 or ~+1/3 stop exposure. I also have the impression that they provide a similar amount of warming.
The Tiffen 812 seems to have a good reputation and is one of the filters they offer in both the standard uncoated and the "Digital HT" multi-coated with titanium coatings. I would be curious to learn about the history of its development--there doesn't seem to be a lot of information available about that.
Is there is any value in having both the 812 and KR 3? Do they have a different look with their effect on the film? I am thinking particularly of their use with today's slide films like Kodak Ektachrome E100 and Fujichrome Provia 100F.
