The title of the Deardorff add says $1 and the add itself says $5000.000.

Nice typo????
Or worse: fake?

the $1 pricepoint is to discourage spammers from seeing a high-price(and potentially an unknowing seller) and thinking they can swindle them with the whole scheme thingamajig. It's what I do with most of my CL postings.

The $1 price is often used when listing multiple items. You then list the price for each item in the description.

I believe a lot of people posting on Craigslist assume that because there is a space for a price, it is a mandatory field (has to be filled in). I've never found that it had to be filled in or that someone on Craigslist filled it in after I posted an ad. When posting multiple items, it generally makes no sense to fill it in.

It alerts frequent users to a listing containing multiple items, so it does make sense to those in the know.
