Recently received the fall flyer/catalogue from Quarks & Urban Trails (a shoe & outerwear retail outlet-two separate, but related stores). Not exactly noteworthy by itself, but amongst the products featured on the cover is a black Rocoh XR-1 and an extra lens! Not sure what the significance is-marketing or otherwise-but an interesting and surprising choice nonetheless. Maybe the graphics designer is a diehard film buff!?!?

Alot of people, expecially young people, think film cameras look cool.

I've also seen an advert with a Zorki 4.

Over the last two years I have seen a few adverts using an analogue camera as a prop.

But I consider that here rather as the mindset of the people of the advertizing agency, than any growing interest for analogue cameras at the addressed clientele.

Whether the addressed clientele even considers them looking cool I even doubt in some cases (eg. weekly prospectus of the Aldi discount stores).

Some of our shops throw in a film camera to a show case display.
Cynical me read it as 'all film camera users are dummies'.

I always have seen film (slr) cameras being used to denote "a camera" than a DSLR.
Maybe easy to pick up on stock photos/graphics or maybe it represents camera better. (just like the stock "car" representation is a sedan?)

Nikon F and the person is trying to press the top of the frame number casing instead of the shutter button on the side.

At the Talbot's store in the mall today, one of their window dressing photos is a model with what looked like a rangefinder or older SLR (I did not look closely). Considering the clientele for that store, it sorta surprises me (not younguns or hipster types).

On the wheatpaste throw up posters for fancy clothing companies I've seen on the side of NYC construction sites, it's usually some ridiculously overdressed and groomed man/girl in some field somewhere, holding a 1950s-60s era camera, looking super serious and "gentleman-ey/artsy"

Or in other ads, it's a Leica slapped on top of a macbook, next to a coffee, next to a moleskin notebook, and art magazine

Or as for cinematography of today perf. 35mm film is still used as icon.

I work at the Grand Canal Shoppes in The Venetian | Palazzo... Victorias Secret had a huge ad in their front window. The model was holding a LEICA M7 last month... i kept looking at the camera more often than at the model, haha.
