And the financial system drives the economic one. Who gave China the manufacturing predominance we see today by transfering manufacturing resources from the West to the East if it is not Wall Street? Who wants a maximal return for every $ bet in the financial casino? Why is it the first time in US history that today's citizens are poorer than the previous generation when at the same time finance growth is exponential? Who is leading USA: Obama or the FED?
Capitalism vs communism is a smoke screen. Those who really rule the world are way beyond such paradigm.
The Worlds biggest Communist regime, is out-capitalisting the Worlds biggest capitalist regime, now there's irony for you.Every economic system is connected. However the Communist system is closed to but a few party members and very opaque. The Capitalist system is a little more open and transparent. Both choose to exploit the environment and it's workers. Today's Communism bares little resemblance of the past. Today's Capitalist system is rigged by the 2% against the 98%. Its always a battle between a greedy, powerful few and social good isn't it?

There is more than one reason. I recently cited instances of outright fraud. That is exactly the reason for the current perception of Chinese goods.
Have you seen how the majority of Chinese live? And they will have a highly technically advanced and mercantile society when we in Britain are back to living in mud and wattle huts.
The Chinese had a highly technically advanced and mercantile society when we in Britain were painting our faces with woad and living in mud and wattle huts
It's a cardinal error both in warfare and life in general to underestimate the enemy, the Chinese won't be satisfied with the cheap end of the market forever just as the Japanese weren't after WW11, now they have their foot in the door they will start producing high quality luxury manufactured goods of a quality and a price that Western companys can't compete with, because make no mistake this is economic warfare.
Being afraid of offending the sensibility s of the Chinese won't alter the economic facts of what we are all experiencing at the moment, and what we have experienced in the case of Japan is a matter of history and incontrovertible.I wonder what chinese Apug fellows thing of this.
Our americo-european centrism does Apug no good.
True. The system makes astonishing amounts of money for a very small number of people, without actually contributing anything. Moreover, they've managed to convince everyone that without their input the economy would crash and burn. A remarkable piece of brainwashing.Western countries are plagued by financial systems which act as parasites. For Wall Street and al., capitalism is no more entrepreneurial but a cash cow to pressure as much as possible. It is true in North America, it is also true in Europe.
I wasn't talking about how egalitarian the Chinese society historically was or is or about the degree of social justice in the country this in fact probably has a positive effect on keeping labour costs down and the workforce docile, I was talking about China's current technical and manufacturing capability s and their ability to compete in World markets. And much of China was agrarian, living in the local equivalent of mud and wattle huts, all the way from then until now. Grand palaces and huge walls do not a wealthy people make.
Some Arab cultures were also very advanced, scientifically and technologically- though like the Chinese, that doesn't mean that the common people away from the cities gained much from it.
Past glories of past societies have little bearing on the present in those places.
Moreover, they've managed to convince everyone that without their input the economy would crash and burn. A remarkable piece of brainwashing.

I agree entirely, but we aren't talking about fairness or ethical behaviour we're talking about economic warfare, and history is written by the winners. It a way it is. But it's a hybrid system that is not truly capitalism. Not all Chinese citizens can play the game. The Chinese Communist Party leverages it's power to take advantage of huge masses that are poor. They also don't play the international rules either. Even though China's technology has advanced, there's a lot of stealing of ideas and technology to out-do the Western world and beating us at or own game. The Chinese above all are pragmatist. China is a power to be reckoned with.
