Hi There I am new to this site so hope its the right place to post. I have an old (possibly Gandolfi) 10x12inch camera, image attached. I have recently been using it for some paper negative experiments and enjoying the results a lot. It does have a Thornton-Pickard Shutter which seems to work sometimes, but sometimes I get a big patch of light leak with it so I mostly just use the lens cap. I wanted to know if there is anyone who does repairs on these shutters and if people here might know of a contact? I'm also keen to buy some more plate holders (I have three) but browsing online it seems they are fairly difficult to get hold of. any advice appreciated. thanks, Olivia

I'm thinking @Ian Grant might know something to help.

You though right Don :D

I have rather a large collection of TP shutters and service/restore them on a regular basis. PM sent.

Finding 12"x10" plate holders isn't easy, there used to be a seller at the Camera Fair I go to who had boxes of them, usually smaller. Because they aren't standard no-one was buying them. I need holders and will ask around, there's someone i know with shelves full but he hasn't been able to get at them as he has too much stored in the way.

Thanks Ian, That sounds like epic storage! I am good with my six shots for the moment but if you do hear of anyone with some available, I'd love to hear.

Nice camera. I have a similar 24x30cm one with 3 plate holders. It's a great size for contact prints for alternative processes.
My plate holders also had light leaks that needed repairing.
Good luck with your quest.

Thanks everyone for putting me in touch with Ian, the shutter is on its way to him! And very happy to be here and part of this forum. I did some pictures on this camera for a magazine last week so when they are published I will share them.

In regards to the camera being a Gandolfi, have you checked inside the camera as it should be blind stamped inside.
