None of Thomas Ruff's photos are actually taken by him. He uses found negatives or glass plates to make his images and breathe a second life into pics otherwise lost and forgotten.
As part of the world's largest photography exhibition, The AGO and CONTACT Photo have assembled 4 simultaneous shows:
Negative
A display of negatives printed as cyanotype positives.
Press++
Ruff scans both sides of old press prints to create some interesting juxtapositions.
Sterne
Images he made using negative he obtained from the European Southern Observatory in Chile.
Maschinen
Images printed from abandon bed glad plates he found in an old Germany factory.
