I wish to try some alternative filtering in the Thomas Duplex, it is for the East European FOMABROM VARIANT III, safelight specifications are :
FOMABROM VARIANT III is orthochromatic sensibilized photo paper so if you work
with it you should use safety illumination different from common black and white
photo paper. It is routinely processed at indirect safety illumination with wavelength
of 625 nm and higher, corresponding colour of safety illumination is orange or red.
As to its high sensitivity the processed material has to be exposed to such
illumination only for the time necessary for its processing. Length of exposure and a
distance of the processed material from the illumination source should be tested.
I look for this application in the Rosco gels : some options are the 787 (marius red) and 027 (medium red).
Should I put this deeper red filters in the vanes and used with the doors fully closed with the basic orange filter in the body or should I put the deeper reds directly into the body? I think that the Orange and dark red will be very dim but as I buy paper in roll, I need some extra time to manage the cutting of the paper under safelight.
Darkroom size is 16x12 x8'H.
Another question, are the Thomas glasses have any special specifications? or can I use regular glass to made additional kits?
Thanks for the help.
