So in my search for photo centers in SoCal (see this thread: (there was a url link here which no longer exists)), I came across this fantastic looking place: http://raykophoto.wordpress.com/ and thought "Great!" this is exactly the kind of resource center I'm looking for, 'cept it's in NORTHERN California. ARGH!

Same with this place: http://www.photography.org/ and http://www.johnsexton.com/ and http://www.brooks.edu/ and http://www.summitphotographic.com/ and Dead Link Removed and http://www.fotovision.org/, etc... I think I'm moving to 'wrong' part of California ... hmmm ...

Regards, Art.

Everything in Northern California is still far away from each other. So is LA. Basically, its all day if you want to go to someplace like Getty. Unless you live 10 minutes away from it. I lived in NYC most of my life and one can go to a dozen galleries in half a day. I used to go to the Witkin all the time and I had to operate the elevator myself! That was a long time ago. Its just different mindset here. That's all.

Rayko is a wonderful place, run by dedicated people. I do all my silver printing there. They have an 8" X 10" enlarger, full colour darkroom and my favourite- darkroom #2, private darkroom, 2 enlargers and music. All for the low, low price of $15 per hour.
It's also 3 blocks from SF Moma, 3 blocks from Photographer's Supply and about 5 blocks from Gasser's. Then there's also 49 Geary about 10 mins. away.
Come on up some time Art, I'll give you a photo tour!
