This is Tiffany Spring/Summer 2015 catalog

Couple catalogs arrived today. B&H and This is Tiffany Spring/Summer 2015

One for me and one for my wife...

She said I wouldn't be interested in it but ... Tiffany's catalog has at least one black and white photograph which was taken on film... Jean Schlumberger's portrait.

The catalog is filled with crisp and clean black and white photography, which looks very much to me as if it was shot on large format film...

She says we're not getting anything from the Tiffany catalog...

Good. Leaves me more to spend at B&H.

The Nordstrom catalog just came.

In contrast to my review of the Tiffany's catalog, this one left me feeling I had to say something.

Their blue theme was done in a strange way that I cannot fathom. I don't think it was an accident because I don't know how you would have to mess up a color profile mismatch to get the look...

All I can say is, you know the look when you are accustomed to a 6500-degree-K monitor and switch it to 5000-degree-K ? All of a sudden everything looks warm and brown?

That's what it looks like, and I can't think it was a mistake.

I imagine an art director walked into a designer's workroom, saw the scenes on the monitor, and said "That's the look I want".

Anthropologie catalog came in today...

I really love their catalog. I have no idea if film or other, but the locations are always amazing and the arrangements are always very meticulous. Color is always inventively applied. This catalog is great. The "room" with a hammock stretched over a pool of water is so exotic...
