If I am correct the building of the huge enlarger captivated the internet for a year or two , I would love to see the machine in operation, the only one I know( personally) using 20 x24 film camera is Monty McCutchen

Is that the "Sports Photographer".?
Not the most common name, but you never know.......

Monty was a NBA ref, I think he still is associated somehow with the NBA . but not as a sports photographer.

OK... i see.
That is where the sports came from.
I did a quick search on Yahoo, but other than photos of him on a basketball court, and mention of The NBA, i did not see any of his pictures.

I am not sure Monty has a personal site of his work, I have only seen it in person , in fact I have a couple of his Platinum Palladiums.

my ~80 yr old d2 enlarger is looking menacingly at me as i watch the video all gaga and starry-eyed!
Sister enlarger wives :whistling:??

Great video! Thanks for sharing.

Maybe a few years ago , but now I reflect on the bad and good experiences I have had with letting people into my darkroom, I think the right person yes and it would have to be a serious project with confirmed gallery showing as well a rental negotiation between me and the person.

Edit.. I should post I am not really looking for this ... it would have to be the right situation.
Hi Bob! I'm not too versitile wiht this website. I don't really know how to send you a private message so I'm jsut responding to this. Would you mind messaging me? Someone recommended you!

This is an old thread, but I think the point of the video was really more of a promo for the Heiland Split Grade printing system and the Heiland densitometer which I don't recall anyone talking about that commented on this thread. A very cool system indeed - really powerful. In the age of computers I would love to see a version of the Split Grade system that somehow hooks up to a computer/laptop, reads the entire negative (like a scanner), and has software to make selections on a laptop display with a red screen mode (much like in PS) where you can select the exposure of different sections - along with a variable LED light head that can somehow expose different parts of the image differently instead of hand dodging and burning - almost combining an enlarger with a scanner, but the exposure remains on silver gel paper. I know, I'm only dreaming. I'd bet if analog printing still had a large market this is where enlarger and analyzer tech would have taken us.

Mike
