It is amusing to note that the writer of the article has come to the startling conclusion what generations of 35mm photographers have known all along. I have considered the 35mm focal length to be my normal lens and actually have two of the f:2 Nikon variety of this focal length. It is also interesting that he does't even shoot film, only digital.
I am not losing sleep over the possibility of prices rising in analog gear as I have more than I need at this time ;-).

Not only that, but some of the Canon EOS film cameras have the eye control focus. Mine works very well. But I find I like the look of my M42 Russian glass better.

Actually, some of the latest generation of "mirrorless" d!git@l cameras have interchangeable lenses with very short registration distances. That makes it fairly trivial to make adapters for older manual lenses and I see lots of talk about people doing that. No doubt some will adapt because they already have lenses in hand. I don't have any idea whether the number of people using those cameras deciding to run out to acquire such lenses would represent a visible bump in demand. I think a lot of those cameras are acquired to use as high end P&S.

One of the first things I thought of. It's a Nikon D3s with a 24x36 sensor.
Just think, that lens has been waiting 31 years for him to discover it. Damn nice lens, too.

It means he's a kid enthusing over a new toy, and wouldn't do very well at all with a camera that required thought and knowledge to use.

For moving subjects, auto focus is a blessing. I find that for still work, I can get a better focus manually.

You haven't seen how big many modern 35mm format lenses have gotten, have you? Google Sigma 50mm f1.4...

How do you be come a photo writer without ever having used a 35mm lens? Man, what has become of online gear reviews nowadays?!

On a side note, Ive had the 35mm 1.4 nikkor for a little while and its a nice lens and really smooth to use, and is in no way light or compact haha. The reviewer should try the cv nokton 35mm 1.4, now thats what I call a compact 35.
