I'm looking to get into filters and TheFilterDude seems like a great way in - saving the money on the holders so that I can afford to buy at least two or three filters.

However, the price difference almost seems too good to be true. I've read loads of forum posts/reviews saying they really are as good as the LEE branded stuff, but at pretty much 50% of the cost you'd understand my scepticism.

How durable are they compared to the branded ones? Am I going to have filters dropping out of the bottom of the filter? It fits 4x4/5/6 filters, is this a constraint or does that size range contain most filters available?

More generally, I'm only currently looking at LEE resin filters (ND grads and maybe an ND filter) as well as the 105mm circular polariser. Am I being too narrow minded? I know of other brands (Cokin and Singh Ray) so would they be worth checking out?

While I don't do resin filters, I have had good experiences with filterfind.net. Tim deals in used filters, etc, and knows his stuff. For example, he found me a Series adapter for my Zeiss Ikon Contessa 35 which has external threads for an adapter, rather than the usual internal. Could be worth a look!

Hey, That's a good lead! Series VIII filters. I have managed to get a K2 and a 25A. Took me a bit of searching to find. This fellow has everything.
Best, Mike

I agree. I use filterfind.net also.
