My Konica Autoreflex T4 was designed to use the PX-13 / PX-625 size mercury cells. When I had a CLA done by Greg Weber, I asked him to adapt the meter for use with modern batteries, intending to use S625PX (silver oxide) batteries. However, those seem to have vanished from the market. Last time I looked, I could not find any in stock, anywhere, so I suspect they may have been discontinued(?) So now my options are to use the alkaline version in the correct size (625) - or use the smaller 675/s44/357 silver oxide batteries in passive adapters. I use <these>.
When I asked Weber about using alkaline batteries, he said, "The voltage drop on alkaline batteries is not that much of a problems if you can’t find [silver oxide batteries] in your area. The alkaline will work but they will not last as long. Example: is a silver lasts 18 months you can expect the alkaline ones will last about 8 to 12 months. But starting voltage is the same on both kinds. The T-4 uses so little voltage, so unless you're keeping the camera on all the time, the silvers are not needed for the extra expense."
If I ever get the camera back, I plan to use the smaller silver oxide batteries in size-adapters, but I am beginning to think I might have been just about as well off to stick with the zinc-air hearing aid batteries...?
