Anybody watched this documentary about Salgado?

Yep, I did - one of the most interesting documentaries I've seen in recent years. Also one with lots of disturbing pictures. But then again, these disturbing pictures are an essential part of Salgados life and his body of work, so I guess such a documentary simply cannot be complete without them.

saw it, loved it. the technique used while salgado was talking was interesting. in the end, I found it a very uplifting documentary and would actually watch it again.

I watched it. Not a 'date' movie. Glad I watched it. Strong images. Strong narration. I had difficulty reading the translation and keeping up with the images (lots of words, fast changing images). This will not be an issue if you understand the language of the photographer.

It is better than I was expecting - but from another side Wim Wenders is a very good director . Beside obvious thing that one can expect - big surprise was some extra unseen photos from Other Americas that are not seen before.

A very professional and moving documentary.
Quibbles: the narration technique was overused - Bergman's Seventh Seal? The scenes especially of Rwanda were enough to make one give up on humanity. But the Genesis project offers a glimmer of hope.
A recent editorial in Black & White magazine (June 2015) does suggest that photographs like Salgado's earlier work has had a positive impact on the world.

One of the best documentaries I have watched in a long time. But some of the images are very disturbing, and I kept wondering what king of a man Sebastiao Salgado is, leaving his wife and kid alone for months/years on end to live with refugees, in war zones, and amid humanitarian crises situations.

In his lifetime, I believe he has "made a difference." So many humans spend their lives in "frivolous" pursuits, when taken in light of the true needs of humanity - such a waste of the precious gift of sentient life.

And also one must not forget that Salgados wife did a major part in the whole story - she supported him and actively worked/working with him. This is perfect example of "Behind every successful man, there is a strong, wise and hardworking woman".

An excellent documentary! I am very font of him and his work. He dared make his dream come true and filled his life with lots of worth out of it.
