I think it was five or six years for Friedlander’s Pickup and Workers to finally be released. I want to say that I had those both on pre-order back in 2017, the order got cancelled eventually, and the books finally came out in 2022 or 2023.

I had both of those on pre-order at one point too. I did buy them once they were eventually released.

I'll keep crossing my fingers for New Topographics. I'm sure it'll be released - someday

I stopped by my local Goodwill bookstore the other day which I don't go to much anymore (pickers...) but I did find an extraordinary book in which I think most people here would be interested. Literature and Photography 1840-1990 ©1995 University of New Mexico Press. Not much in the way of pitchurssic, but the breadth of it is pretty extraordinary. I haven't seen anything like it. It is all older writing of course, but from authors like Nabokov, Neruda, Poe, Faulkner, Kerouac, Sartre and of course from photographers like Weston, Evans, Parks, White, Michals, etc. Can be had for peanuts.

Thank you for this. Surprised I missed this one, especially as it comes in at nearly 700 pages! Looks to be excellent winter reading. Just picked up a copy off Amazon.

I stopped holding my breath for that one a long time ago. It has to be at least three years since it was first announced.
Same with Robert Adams' "The New West". Has been in "Reprinting" status for ages.
The "reprinting" It is not a typo on their site. The release date continues to move during the years I have been looking.

When Steidl did the big lot of Robert Adams books in 2023 with participation of Joshua Chuang, I asked Mr. Chuang (on Instagram) why The New West wasn't included, and he said Steidl would wait for 2024 and release it on the 50 anniversary of the original book (1974). Well, that didn't happen either.

Did anyone pick up anything at the Aperture 40% off or the David Zwirner 25% off Labor Day sales? Both end today. I've got a couple of things in my carts that I'm mulling over...

Has anyone seen a copy of the newly-released Daido Moriyama Quartet from Thames and Hudson? It's an anthology of four of his best-known books: Japan: A Photo Theater, A Hunter, Farewell Photography, and Light and Shadow. I've already got Daido Moriyama: A Retrospective from Prestel and I'm wondering how much overlap there is between the books (I'm guessing quite a bit).

The book shows up as a pre-order at Amazon, but it's apparently already in stock at a few US booksellers and generally available in Europe.

I skipped the end-of-summer sales this year. Mack, Steidl and others have announced a few new books for the fall and winter that interests me, so I'm putting money aside.

I haven't seen it but I'm definitely getting it. Hope the printing is good.
