Hi All,

So, i've posted a couple of times in here seeking advice and input on my Korona 2 8x10 view camera. I finally got it built up enough to use and was plugging along nicely when the rails split. Completely unusable now! ACK!!

Does anyone know where I can possibly find a set of replacement rails (except ebay)?

Could you not glue the rails using epoxy and clamps?
 
In the past I had 2 Koronas, and their extension rails were different. I purchased a couple of extras on ePray, then modified them to fit specific camera. Do a search for "extension rails" under film cameras. Or check for a beater that you can use for spare parts.

Gorilla glue and spring clamps work wonderfully. The excess glue cleans up in water and sets in less than an hour. Premoisten the pieces being glued and it speeds up curing time. Best of all, it is gap filling and doesn't require solvent to clean up.
 
A photo or two would help to determine its repairability.

Even if it's not repairable, I don't see why a replacement would be difficult. If it's built like my 7x17 Korona, I could have a rail done in a couple of hours at most.

When you put the glue on/in use a small artists brush a #1 will work fine. Clamp the split sections together and allow to dry
The glue will in fact be stronger than the wood.
Any wood working glue will work with the same results as the Gorilla glue. I use Tite-bond.
 
If you were to see some of the old shutters I repair where the wood work is in fragmented pieces your realise that your Korona rails is a relatively easy repair

I use a US made wood glue same as John above, Tightbond but there are different grades, I'm using Tightbond II - a friend who's making banjos recommended their glues but they are only available from a few suppliers here in the UK.

I agree with Ian. I do all my wood camera repairs with good clamps and Tightbond II. It's easy to work with and holds rock solid.
 
You all are my heroes. Thanks for all of the ideas and input. Off to the hardware store I go!!! FINGERS CROSSED!! I'm not quite ready to give up on the old girl, especially now that i've started having success with Tintypes (modern version)....why settle for 4x5 when I have an 8x10 that will work with a little bit of love right.
