The one thing the nutty retro film movement has succeeded in accomplishing and it's not great photography ...

It's funny to see so many Pentax K1000's (a very nice camera) sell for well over $100, while Minolta SRT202's (a much better camera) go for $15. And that's just one example. There are still super deals out there.

Same thing with Nikkormats...it's almost like "Buy the 50mm f/2 lens, get the Nikkormat body for free!"

That's a good point. I've often bought good and bad cameras at surprisingly low prices, not because I wanted the camera, but because the lens was worth a LOT MORE -- and was never even mentioned in the ad.

I have picked up good lenses that way.

If the price clears the market, it's the right price. And one can always buy a digital Hasselblad and lens kit for considerably more money than a V-Systems camera.

Stuff is still cheap. Try and sell things and make money. Ebay suggests prices that are out of this world. I saw a Craigslist ad where a guy was trying to sell some off-brand stabilization processor for 250 bucks. Those machines went out with advent of RC (PE) paper.
I recently bought a Leica MP, chrome, "used" from MAP camera, delivered 2 day FedEx to Iowa from Japan for $3200 US, taxes included. There was no box, but it was untouched, manufactured in 2023. Same camera brand new here would be close to 7k with taxes.
People with shops manage to sell stuff at a premium, but costs to sell are high, especially Ebay, PayPal......etc.

KEH ain't what it used to be because everyone is doing it, their costs are high, the equipment is worn-out and there's not as many skilled workers.

This market force allowed me to buy my Hasselblads, Hasselblad lenses, Pacemaker Speed Graphic, and Graflex Model D at bargain prices when professional photographers were dumping the film equipment to buy the latest digital equipment at that time.
