I use a N70 fairly often, have no issues with it.

As capable of great images as any other camera, obviously.

People can call it garbage, whatever. It works.

I use the N75 for color negatives and the F100 for black & white negatives. The two get along well and share their lenses and filters nicely.

For example I put the 28/1.8G on the N55 and the AF did not work. I had to look it up, this is normal. Only AF confirmation dot works with that lens on that camera.

Then I put the 28/1.8G on the N75 and neither the AF or the confirmation dot worked. Is the N75 bad? Had to look it up. Because the "Roll end" light was flashing in the viewfinder, the AF won't work. I realized there was a spent roll of film in the camera. After removing that all was well. That lens does indeed work with all functions on the N75.

Very good ideas, Ice. I've done the same. My short term memory is not what it used to be and, besides, for every new thing I learn I have to forget one thing.

So I was researching Nikon lenses and came across Ken Rockwell’s article “Nikons Ten Worst Lenses” and low and behold I have paired one of Nikon’s worst lenses with Nikon’s bastard child N70. Namely the Nikkor AF 35-70mm f3.3-4.5, oh well guess I’m screwed.

I should add that I’m quite happy that I figured out the exposure compensation and there’s hope of figuring out the bracketing feature. Overall I like the N70 and find it perfect for a “car” camera. Attached is one of my favorite images from this combo, not bad for a “worst lens, bastard camera”

I picked up an N70 for $10.00 a while back because it had the panorama switch on it. Paired with a wider lens it made a kind of poor man's X-Pan.
Not bad image quality for cheap and a little bit of fun. The user interface sucks as previously stated above. The manual is a must have.

I was able to use a Leica R 90 2.8 Elmarit on my n70 w/ an adapter. The metering was AE w/ the lens used in stop down mode. That's where the darkish viewfinder was less than ideal. But if I remember right, it had that handy focus confirmation light in the viewfinder.

I sorta miss that camera because it was so light. Tried to figure out a way to put a brighter focus screen in it, but no go. Honestly, once I got the menu sorted out and set it to where I wanted it, I never had it look at it again. Probably a better camera when using Nikon AF lenses.

The bottom of the barrel 35-70 AF lens made very nice shots for me. That would be a great walk around combo, just have the n70 and one of those AF 35 70 lenses on it. Those lenses are very light too.

I have been pleased with my 28-70 D lens. I mostly use primes though.

Nice! Bonus points for using Catlabs 320 in some of the shots!
So many 'cheap ass' lenses are really good. My N80 came with the 28-80 D, which is super cheap, but meant to be great. I'll try it out soon.

I had an F70 some years ago but sold it and bought an F100.

Both cameras can use most Nikon lenses and both cameras have decent viewfinders.
The fan screen is a little awkward at first but , really, who needs to swiftly swap between one metering system and another ; not many!
My! Nikon F70 was far more reliable than my F100 and lighter too.
There comes a time when the portability of a camera is an issue.
I have been tempted to buy another F70 with a 28-105 lens but keep coming back to my FE and FM.

I do, quite a lot. And I really don't think I'm the only one. Which is why they changed it on their later models.
