Wow!!!, I'm totally impressed! Check out the videos they posted! I love the Automatic tilting tray washing machine for large prints. They also have detail photos of most of the items listed in the auction.

This would be my dream darkroom, If only I had the money!:sad::sad:

Well, for the good news, starting minimum bid is only 39,000 EUR or "Buy It Now" price of 120,000 EUR!!!

It is likely located in Thuringia.

I never heard of that guy, which is quite suprising with his resources.
But I'm likely living under a rock.

Nice. That's almost a cost of a decent apartment in Bremen.

Nevertheless the wash area is interesting. I am looking something similar in the size of100x30(>30)cm.

Wish I can find one soon.

For that sort of money expect a speedmaster Rotating door and a Durst l1200 Enlarger and a Jobo Film processor to be included

Wow, if the space is included, that is a good price. I am paying almost that much for just the commercial space to setup in, no plumbing, none of my equipment installed, etc.

Sounds like it might just be the equipment though, hard to tell.

Just the equipment, moving and install costs are on the buyer, but they will consult with that. What a space that is. This seems like it will be quite a void to fill for their customers.

For me, the most desirable item is the large print washer. In my darkroom, lack of a big print washer is the limiting factor for making large prints.

that tray rocker sounds like a drive-by-shooting every time it goes from side to side
what a racket !

That's why they go have a coffee while it washes.

i don't know german, so i didn't know that was a kwasher, i thought it was for kdevelopment and kfixing so you didn't kneed to rock
the ktrays.

i'd be afraid the fuzz would show up with all that noise, .. battering ram the door down &c. you know
open fire on "the sink" ...

reminds me of the 90s, some kid renting a condo in a building in boston ... he was away and a
"box that was buzzing" arrived for him when he was on vacation ... his friends freaked ...
the police evacuated the building and the bomb squad came and blew up the box in the blast bunker...
after they yelled " fire in the hole ! " and detonated the box it turned out he was a "beeper salesman"
gotta love the 90s ...

=== coffee is good..

Absolutely. Don't be seduced by the outstanding, purpose built darkrooms themselves because you don't get the property only the equipment. It is not a functional darkroom on offer here - just the gear to set one up. If you couldn't buy most of that plus the obvious missing items like a film processor and 8x10 enlarger for less than half the minimum price being asked here you would not be looking too hard. I also reckon you could add serious colour capability and still not exceed the minimum price. A lot of this stuff has very little value today except to an ever diminishing pool of potential buyers. I know because I've owned and disposed of a lot of it (including a see-saw print washer). OzJohn

Cool!!!

If you are looking for something Pro and do not mind spending the €€€, the offer is actually not too bad.
The Durst enlargers may be found on the bay, but other things (like the longer APO lenses and the Splitgrades) will always cost you dearly. Some of the items will probably never be seen on the bay, like the print washer, the horizontal enlarger system and the focusing camera & monitor.

If you´d try to build something similar from scratch, I don´t think you could get it cheaper than the minimum asking price. Even if you spend a few years going through all offers of used equipment.

Yeah, I think until people really start looking for this stuff like I have for the last few years, they just assume it is all give-aways and dump hauls to be rescued. I'd say the peak time to have found truly great stuff like this on every corner and in ever city via Craigslist was about 7-10 years ago, I certainly cleaned up then.

Now it is drying up from being snatched up. The price does seem ambitious though, even if turn key.

I did take lots of "notes" from this as things like the mural trays, enlarger orientation and washer are exactly what I will be building out my self in the next 6 months. Heiland is going to build me a custom light source for my mural enlarger, a converted monorail with geared movements for horizontal projection. My budget for the build out and space is $120,000.

Could this be because Jena is there?

Great photographic museum there, one of the highlights of my early 90's trip to Germany/Austria.
