After the first minute or two I just jumped ahead a few times to see if anything beyond grinding and polishing was shown....nope...nothing.

Nowt I'm going to see if the Glidden Company has one like it so I can watch their paint dry while listening to Lindsay Lohan's greatest hits.

a video like this just underscores how lame Leica is in something like this. One can easily get as good or better a polish/finish on a metal object without pointless hand work. The fact they hype that they are too idiotic to go to modern methods underscores why they are overpriced and irrelevant. Compare this to some of Apple's videos of machining and finishing and you can see how far behind Leica is.

Someone should tell this guy that there MUCH better ways to make spoons. And they can be made in metal so there's no wood shavings to deal with. And you can use machines so that you you do not have to bother with your hands:

As far as I'm aware, the one and only passport for owning a physical good, and that includes el-cheapo Harleys, is money.

Have I insulted you by calling Harleys "el-cheapo"? Because you know, there are cars, boats, houses, and even watches and shoes that cost more then a Harley. Nothing sacred about a Harley.

A Harley is as much an attitude as anything else. We're all entitled to have attitudes. And, yes, a brand of motorcycle, more than a mere two wheel motor bike by any other name, DOES define a person, and that's exactly the definition by which they choose to be known. Not my cuppa hemlock, but the bikes are indeed beautiful. But, so are carbon fiber bicycles and I'd take my eyes off a gorgeous woman long enough to ogle one of those! lol!

A harley davidson owner is precisely that: a harley davidson owner. There's no pre-requisites to be a "real" or "genuine" Harley owner other then to have the exact amount of money it takes to buy one.

What's more genuine between a drunk half-homeless harley owner or a priest Harley owner?

Like owning a Leica: we like to imagine things and to believe that Leica owners are better photographers then Canon photographers. But in real life, it's obviously not true. Leica, like Harley, has this make-believe ability.

Funny you should mention that... my wife helped write the memoirs of a Harley riding priest and I actually had the opportunity to coordinate some charity work with him.

My boss and a fair set of my co-workers own Harleys.

In answer to your question, the difference is that the priest rides one to get access to the group, to pose as one of the group on occasion; the struggling Harley owner you speak of, typically has to ride his to survive.

The priest I speak of ministered to Georgia O'Keefe and other fancy names, flew his Cessna all over New Mexico and Northern Mexico, and spent time on his Harley in some of the seedier areas.

Like it or not showing up on a Honda doesn't get "one" the same cred, and most Harley buyers understand this.

Whomever believes one camera or another makes them a "better photographer" is deluded. Either you have the skills or you don't. A camera might facilitate certain things (whether a technical capability or just putting you "in the mood") but nothing more. It's a tool, a means to an end.

It also depends on where you hang out (online or IRL). Some locales are chock full of poseurs while others are honest to goodness photographers. The latter group are usually not found hanging out in forums arguing ad nauseum about senseless crap though.

Personally I believe that the reasons behind why Leica is financially doing so well right now has less to do with their marketing or advertising and much more to do with our economy. Right now those with more money are doing pretty well while those who do not are having problems coming up with enough to buy an entry level Canon.

Hmm....

Yes, it was indeed one of the most boring ads I've seen.
Could not believe my eyes when I saw that this "ad" was over 45 minutes long.

Skipped to the end, and there it was, all polished and still not assembled.......waste of 45 minutes of good living imo.

And indeed, Leica IS a goddamn jewelry in most cases, because it cost money.....a lot of it.
As useful and as much "better" as BMW and Merch's are compared to other "simpler" cars.

As much of a jewelry as my Rolleiflex F2.8 as well, it's soooo nice .....so nice atually that I normally just use my Rolleiflex Automat f3.5 instead, so I don't wear out my f2.8.

Anyway, this is all boasting, no substance, so just shut up and shoot with whatever
