Ok Greece looks a very beautiful place however over the past 8 years i have noticed an oddity that occurs with the film i have processed of Greece over that time. Of all the jobs Ive done of Greece I can only think of 2 where the light has been crisp clean. All other times the photographs have looked almost like there is a lot of dust in the atmosphere. The colour of the sky is mute and the colour of the land is poor and distant horizons look like they have a layer of haze over them. is there something odd about Greek light?

Well I live very close to Greece, next to the Aegean, the nearest Greek Island is only a few kilometres away and the light is always incredible ?

Certainly never had a problem with the colours. Sure on a hot day heat haze affects very distant landscapes. But that happens in the UK too on occasions.

See thats the thing I always picture the light to be crystal clean and amazing, but in all the labs Ive worked in Ive often seen the images with a haze. Maybe the clients don't shoot with a polarizer? I must say when I processed and printed the David Jones catalog shot by Paul Westlake the images were stunning. and the negs of James Houston I've worked with from the man power in greece shoot were also so rich and clean. But it seems getting the same nice result for enthusiasts is a lot harder.

and I thought we were talking about your own images of Greece :D

We shoot B&W & colour and the results are always excellent, I think it's your clients . . . . . . .

It depends on where, what time of the day, what season and what the atmospheric conditions is at the time of taking pictures. In gereral,we have strong sun light here, especially during summer.Best conditions for brilliant pictures is when nor'east wind blows.
