So, he is making sketches of the image added with his spot-metering results.
 
Very nice work indeed. Very precise. And very Japanese and I mean that in the best sense of the term.
 
Thanks - I enjoyed the video as well. Interestingly, he does what I hope to do, that is, printing on washi paper. However, I doubt I'll be doing platinum prints any time soon!

any PD-PT photographers know what he is sizing the paper ( precoating ) with ?
is it hard bloom gelatin?

I found a nice store in The Hague (Holland) with beautiful kinds of paper, called: Damen/Papier Royaal.
I got me some different types of Washi paper and some fine paper from Butan to experiment with this summer.
I'm gonna use food quality gelatin (6% solution) tot test with.
