At the time I am posting this, the official counter on the Impossible Project's website says that there is 1,187,592 seconds. That is 13.74 days.

I, for one, am totally wired. I just got an SX-70 Sonar Onestep in a free box of cameras, and man is it hungry! I'm looking forward to giving it some new food!

The goal was to restart instant film by 2010... Does that mean that they will turn on the machines at the beginning of the new year, or that the films will become available to purchase? Is there an estimated availability date?

I must admit, I am a little disappointed with the lack of information on their website, but I can understand that even they may not be 100% sure about the plan of attack. Or perhaps it's going to be a surprise. It just seems like they only have promotionals going on, but no real technical updates.

Also, I have heard rumors of them manufacturing some large format integral film. Is there any truth to this?

I cannot wait. So does this mean they plan to launch on January 1?

They seem to have started a proofrun of one of their assembly machines in october.
And in a recent interview the technical director stated that they intent to keep prices like the last prices by Polaroroid, stating 2€ per photo.
They intent starting production within 2010, though in another release they stated that they shall start with a not-for-sale trial run to test acceptance.

But I haven't seen a working prototype yet, nor do I know anyone who did.

You know you can use your Polaroid now with 600 film. You need to simply adapt either the small meter with a 2 stop filter or place a filter over the film pack itself. There is a simple method for inserting the 600 pack into the sx-70 with it's little nubs. It's all over the web, just google "SX-70 and 600 film" and you'll find tons.

But as well type SX-70 or type 600 are limited in stock. Be it ready assembled or even as negative masterroll. When that will be gone, it's gone.
This is what that Impossible thing is about: creating something new substituting the going materials.

Agreed. But we work with what we have and hope for the best with the project.

Do we have a representative for the Impossible Project registered on APUG?

Yes they did. And I say good for them. Too many today whine and cry, criticize everything, and wallow in doom and gloom. Give me someone who says "Hey! I don't care if it's hard. I think I can do that!"

"It behooves every man to remember that the work of the critic is of altogether secondary importance, and that, in the end, progress is accomplished by the man who does things." --Teddy Roosevelt

I look forward to purchasing and using their post-Polaroid instant film. I owe them at least that for fighting the good fight.
