I wish I had been able to take part in the survey. I'm retired and I have a lot more time, especially since Covid to practice my printing techniques. In the last year or so I have learned a lot about split grade printing. When I'm on fire and I am in the zone there is nothing more gratifying than making a VG print...I still have more to learn but it has been a very enjoyable experience for me. Thank God for Ilford for supporting this endeavor.

Kudos to Ilford for sharing the results. I was not terribly surprised by the results. It looks like the home printing remains a thing, which is good.

Yesterday.....+ 365 days.
Quite right and thanks. I either missed it first time round on the Ilford site or saw it and it disappeared into a black hole in my memory. Was this shown on Photrio a year ago? If so then I agree that this thread is now largely pointless and worse gives the impression that it may be a new survey

Time I reported myself to the mods to have it removed if indeed it has been on Photrio before. I did a search and couldn't find anything except one going back to 2014 and Simon Galley's time

I’m trying to recall how I was notified. I participated in the survey so perhaps they emailed me. Sounds right but I cannot find the email.

Does seem odd that there wasn’t much chatter here. No better time like the present.

Well yes it's fine if we never had a chance to see and discuss the results of this survey and my search did not reveal a previous thread and yet it does seem amazing as you say, Dusty, that someone on Photrio did not furnish a thread with the link then

Nah, I hadn't seen it, so thanks! Maybe the date in the Ilford report was wrong - takes me about 3 or 4 months before I stop absentmindedly writing the previous year on checks. :D

Thanks Matt. ,So what did I do wrong in my search for Ilford Survey Result? Or it may be easier to ask how did you locate it? I never have much luck with the search mechanism when I try to confine it to a Photrio search as opposed to a Google search via Photrio

There wasn't a lot of posts the first time either which surprises me a bit

Thanks

I guessed that you probably would have posted in any thread about it. So I searched the word "survey" among your posts!
If you search "Ilford Survey Result" you might end up searching for that specific string - no darkroom or printing in its midst.
And I usually avoid including capital letters in my searches.
I expect though that my guess was the most important part of my success.
Do you want to ask the moderators to combine the threads? :whistling:

There seems to be an uptick in people interested in Darkroom equipment locally (toronto). Darkroom lots on kijiji don't seem to stick around for long and seem to get swooped up pretty quickly. As opposed to a few years ago where people were begging to get their entire darkrooms taken away for very little money.

Interesting... I've had my darkroom available for hire/use & listed here for the last 5+ years without any response. Maybe this facility is under promoted by Ilford in their quest to encourage more darkroom printers?

Thanks I had not realised that you could search for a word amongst a person's post but this presumably means that you needed to assume that I had posted but had forgotten all about. In this case I had forgotten but presumably anyone else who just searched for Ilford Survey Results as I did would not have been anymore successful?

Still the Photrio search engine is what it is. I did in fact report myself in the hope that the mods would either delete the thread as a duplicate or decide, as is sensible now I believe, to combine both

It is down to them

As far as Darkrooms are concerned I found a reference to Ilford's "Find The Nearest Darkroom" way back in Simon Galley's days Since then I suspect it did not get a lot further. I was looking through the Ilford site last night and it became clear to me that the new Ilford's route to the analogue public is via the now social media of Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and etsy Whatever the latter is.

Anyone from Ilford reading my last sentence probably and rightly then has it confirmed to him that I am not of the same generation as most of those whom Ilford believes hold the future for it
