I recently self-published a zine containing photographs from my project documenting several years of the Monterey Motorsports Reunion, one of the largest classic auto racing events in the world.

The Monterey Motorsports Reunion (colloquially known as ‘The Historic Races’) is a fixture of the annual Car Week events in Monterey, California. The races date back to 1950 when they were held on public roads through the Del Monte forest. The death of driver Ernie McAfee in 1956 underscored the dangers of running a race on such narrow, tree-lined roads, and the races were moved to the now-famous Laguna Seca Raceway, where they continue to be held today.
The photographs in The Historics were shot at Laguna Seca Raceway between 2019 and 2023. They document the tireless efforts of those who keep these legendary race cars racing - the mechanics who work around the clock to prepare the cars for race day and the drivers who push them to the limit on track to vie for the checkered flag.
