Some people have more brass than a marching band. Who knows though, someone might bite. A fool and his money etc. :D

He's just one of the many sellers on ebay conspiring to drive up used camera prices way above current fair market prices.

As fewer & fewer private sales are listed the gullible will believe the hype not realisng any better.

Makes a smile on my face........... a month ago I bought an AX2 with flash for € 25,--, he is asking the tenfold.......
I should sell some old gear to him and get me a gold RB.........

@Ian: I don't think he can. He might have prices that are in no relationship with any reality, but nobody will buy.
A waist of HD space as far as I'm concered.

Hmmm. A Graflex film pack adapter--a truly valueless item--$150. Watson bulk loader, $150? Uh, aren't those available new for 1/5 the price?

A check of his "completed listings" shows two items actually sold.

Well, there's no doubt about it—some people are idiots about buying on eBay, and they keep sellers like this one in business. I don't know how often I've seen a book go for more than the price on Amazon.com, or a camera-related item go for more than the price at b&h. Ditto with overpriced sheet film which people are buying on auction (why would someone buy sheet film from eBay anyway?). And somebody must be buying those overpriced Holgas that clog up the listings of 8x10 and larger cameras.

$289 for a Lubitel.... $300 for a useless old Kodak folder... the list goes on and on. These are $20 cameras he's listing for hundreds!

Bizarre. Money laundering front or something?

I'm sure that's the guy who had the Agfa-ansco on "offer" for 1999.99. Now he's raised the price by nine hundred or so.
It HAS to be some kind of scam. Establishing a "value" for goods about to be stolen? Regarding feedback: he might be sending it to himself from another email address?

He's certainly under the influence of something...

The ads list Canadian prices. Here are a few prices converted to US dollars:
Pentax SMC 50mm f/2 $269.99
Nikon EM $285.00
Nikon F body, 69xxxxx, $499.99 (with an engraving, and no prism!)

My favorite is a pair of Graphic 4x5 film holders for $153.00 US... I bought one of these recently for $15.00! Good luck with that.

Checking his feedback, he only sells a few items a year. Some with low feedback scores could be suspect. Whatever floats his boat. Maybe I have millions in photo gear myself?:D

I'd say report him to eBay but I doubt they care as long as they get their listing fee.

A trip 35 for $229, crazy!
If it was the more sought after black model, it is the normal price. But for a common chrome? Well, it's a earlier model. But still isn't worth that...

I don't understand these guys either...but every now and then they do get a bite. The situation is similar in many antique shops and pawn shops. I am in college, so I know some real idiots. I actually know someone who payed $400 to have their Argus C-3 repaired...and it took 6 months to get it back. Someone else payed the Buy It Now price of $550 for a beat-up Mamiya Universal, which they never used, dropped and broke the rangefinder brightening glass, and then gave to me. Lots of people are stupid, and lots of people have money to blow. Counting on that won't pay the rent, however. These sellers are only losing money in EBay fees by doing this. People are stupid; the one thing for sure that I have learned in life.

Has anyone checked his completed auctions?

I don't get them either but I have been watching "photo-arsenal" list stuff over and over with never a bite because of the ridiculous prices.

Probably suffers from OCD, has convinced himself the collection is worth "Millions, possibly more" and is now trying to give reality to his fantasy. Here and there he finds himself vindicated by buyers more delusional than he is.

There is no rational explanation for the behavior because it is irrational behavior.
