Works for me. Put me down as bing in this round. I'll start printing.

Sounds good to me. Size? Is postcard better, or bigger the better? Thanks and thanks for volunteering hoffy, and sounds interesting and ambitious Steve, better hope we don't get 52 participants

Generally, people have printed 8x10 prints. If we got up to 52 participants, we'd have groups.

I'll type a better response when I'm not on my phone.

Thanks for jumping in and offering to coordinate, hoffy. I knew if I held my breath long enough somebody would be d... kind enough to jump in.

I'm not that ambitious so if there are more than ten I'm probably not in. I enjoy darkroom but possibly not that much.

Perhaps start a list and the first 10 are in, others miss out this round.

The way it's been done in the past is if there were a lot of entrants, it would be broken into separate groups.

yep, groups of equal numbers capped at ten or so. 16 people sign up, 2 groups of 8. 33 people join up, 3 groups of 11. Something like that.

OK,

I'll start a sign up thread tonight. As per the discussion of this thread, there are going to be some slight rule changes:
  • All prints must be made via an analogue process and all images must originate from an analogue capture. This excludes images which have been scanned and printed by an electronically controlled process.
  • All participants are to be residents of New Zealand, Australia or have the name Andy and live in Detroit.
Any other changes? Or would we be happy to include other international participants?

Cheers

You're missing an "Andrew", hoffy! Andrew O'Neill asked to be included as a fellow Commonwealther back on Page 1, Post 13. I don't think the Monarchy even needs to come into it.... one merely has to be an Andrew apparently.

On a side note, and just to be annoying, I did consider volunteering as co-ordinator (non-participant, though), however, one of my local posties likes to bend books in half and jam them in my brick lined letterbox. I couldn't risk subjecting your hard work to that sort of brutality!

I always thought it was pretty funny that the Australian print exchange had a Canadian & a Dutch person participating. So why not. However one thing I would suggest would be to keep it to just one group. E.g. if the max is 10 people, which sounds about right, then once ten people have signed up that's it for the round. The reason I suggest this is because I was in one exchange that ended up with two groups of 7 or whatever, and that meant I didn't get to see the prints from the other group. Even though I saw the prints from my group there was a sense of missing out. I'm OK with two groups if that's what others want but just wanted to put it out there.

While I would be happy to join in, don't worry about accommodating me. I've just been enjoying how everyone here has taken 17 months to decide their future .
All of you would fit really well in the motley crew that we are over in the "Lets All Shoot 1 Camera" exchange ........

That is a fair point. The question is, how many prints are people comfortable in printing? 10? 12? 15? I was going to suggest 12, but other peoples threshold may be different to mine.

One print for each person. 10 in the group - each person prints 9 prints.
I think I have that right?

I am happy to include expats and wannabe Aussies (even if they don't know it!). This exchange started out due to the high cost of international postage for us (I'm thinking of starting up a Aussie postcard exchange as the postage costs of that have blown out... thanks AusPost!) so if an international or expat is happy to fund their prints getting to and from Oz, then for me that's fine. I personally are happy to have groups if the numbers get more than about 10, I don't have 'missing out' syndrome. If 'they' are desperate to get all prints, stick them in each group... I've seen that done in exchanges before. I wouldn't want to exclude people (once the 10 have signed up). just my opinions

Not wanting to sway any decisions, but if expats are allowed to participate I've got my prints done as we just had a long weekend and I am ready to go. I did 11 prints to be safe.

I've only just set up an enlarger in my laundry room and made my first print. While I can't guarantee spectacular prints, or fantastic subject matter, I'd love to be a part of this. My uni has a copy of The Print by Ansel Adams, which I'll be reading, so hopefully I'll have attained some kind of consistency between prints by the time this kicks off.
