Fuji increased prices by 20% back in October (in Japan at least) and now they are increasing prices again.
I assume there's no reason not expect another increase later this year.
This is just my opinion but it really feels like Fuji is trying to have sales drop low enough to have an excuse to get out of the film business all together.

So I recently tried a roll of Lomo Chrome 200. I have no idea what film this really is, but the results were terrible in comparison to Kodak's or Fuji's slide films. Provia 400X seems grainless compared to this lomo film, and the colors are nothing like what you get from Fuji slide film.

With Fuji slide film going away, I really hope that Ferrania is going to be a better film than this Lomo (aka rollei aka Agfa).
 
I'm in for a roll of 35 and a roll of 120. Many others here are as well. Looking forward to sharing my results.
 
There is AGFA CT Precisa 100 for 6ish EUR per canister in EU.
I am okay with that one.
 
Furthermore, at least here, the Precisa stuff is no longer any less expensive than Fuji-brand Provia 100F, or at least only insignificantly (perhaps $0.50/roll, less than a dollar anyway) so. So I see no reason not to just shoot Fuji. Admittedly I'm not buying any right now since I still have a frozen stock of E100G that's just fine. I did buy some Precisa when it was significantly less expensive but now that it isnt', I'll just go back to my E100G until it's gone. Once that happens if Provia 100F is still available I'll just use it. Not exactly happy about the price but it isn't prohibitive either, for the amount of slide film I shoot. I paid upwards of $17/roll for my last Provia 400X and THAT stuff I'm pretty careful with.
 
If all color slide films will extinct for whatever reason, there is still an option to run the b&w reversal process on any b&w negs to have b&w transparencies.

I'm kind of in the same boat. I am shooting EliteChrome 100 I stocked up on when it was discontinued. I occasionally pick up a roll of Velvia 50 because I feel guilty about not buying currently manufactured film. Will Fuji stop making film because I'm not buying? I know that the quantities of film I buy are not an issue with Fuji's sales, but sometimes every little bit helps. I probably should shoot my old EliteChrome soon, before color shifts become pronounced.

Chrome film in general has become expensive to shoot. $15 for a roll of Velvia and another $15 to process it, makes me think twice about pressing the shutter. In some ways, though, that may be a good thing, but does little to stimulate the market.

I still feel bad that Kodak stopped making KodaChrome because I stop shooting it in 1982. They struggled for years to make it work. Unfortunately, I didn't get back into chrome film until about 5 years ago (school and life got in the way).
 
everything is going up in price brother. theres no reason to speculate on whether its going away for good or not. just keep shooting as much as you can and know that the only way it stays around is if we support it. To be honest I have a hard time understand all the noise about price increase. lets say you shoot 10 rolls a month, and that's probably quite a bit for todays standards, you're looking at an increase of $20 a month. its really not that big of a deal when you consider how much more expensive other things are getting.
 
Velvia 50 is a fine film. Do you shoot landscape with it?

I shoot only Velvia 50 in 120 & 4x5. I read on a recent post that V-100 & 100f will be dropped in sheet film in 2017. No mention of V-50 or Provia in the article.
 
I reckon Velvia 50 and Provia 100 will be the last emulsions standing (and well worth holding onto) after Fuji culls one or maybe two more emulsions, chiefly the poor-selling Velvia 100F or the over-saturated Velvia 100.

Yes, that might be where it's heading. And maybe bring back 400X (though you can give Provia 100 a good shove up to 400 with acceptable results).
