Art,

He had a small store front at a strip mall in Calgary that I dropped by a couple of years ago. Had a small selection of hard to find items, basically what is on the website. I bought 2 rolls of his high resolution B&W film and bluefire developer.

PM me if you want more info.

Once he had a liquidation sale on Efke, so I stocked up pretty nicely.

I just found that the "Frugal" epithet did not always make sense for certain products when Kodak/Fuji products end up being more or less the same price...

I haven't bought anything from him, but he did respond very quickly to an email I sent (he used to carry "real" Rodinal liquid sub-divided into plastic IV-like bags - it seemed like a good idea to me, as it would make it very easy to keep excess air out, but they're not listed on his site currently. He indicated they didn't sell well, so he no longer carries them.)

Not sure ERA film is as good as he makes it sound, though, but to each their own.

it has been some time since i purchased anything from him, but i ws pleased with the service when i did/

He's good for 126 & 110 film. Also has some good info on his site. Has been mentioned here before.

Came across this place: http://www.frugalphotographer.com/

Anyone buy from here? Experiences? Worthy of putting in the APUG Directory?

Regards, Art.

David Foy, the operator of the company, is an film enthusiast interested in odd formats (including MINOX). I've never purchased anything from him (and given that I'm in Germany it would make little sense) and its been a few years since we've chatted but I have little reason not to expect a very high level of service and quality from him. He was a bit at at loggerheads with FotoImpex in Berlin over his sales of Efke film and their mutual squatting of the Adox brandname (FotoImpex registered the abandoned name in the US and Foy in Canada). David, however, never pretended to be Adox. He's also been quite honest about the source of his "high-resolution film", developers etc..... FotoImpex has tended to be a bit of a bully towards him and I can only imagine that they'll try to shill in here--- as also sponsors of APUG. I don't think I've heard of anyone purchasing from Frugal that was not satisfied. Sure there are better films and developers to be had but that's not what its about. That's I think the true spirit of APUG and similar movements.

I made a purchase once, mostly some 126 cartridges. The product arrived well packaged and in a timely manner. No problems at all.

All-round good experiences

All-round good experiences over the years, even getting Frugal Photographer shipments to Africa.

I'm a fan. (And the Rodinal in "IV Bag" was fantastic - I'm distressed that it is no longer listed)
